First exhibition devoted to portraiture ‘The Figurative Show’

Introducing our first exhibition devoted to portraiture. Explore the many ways our artists express the figure and his environment in this collaborative show that launches on St David’s Day in Caernarfon. From 1st March, come and enjoy the many stories the faces in our show could tell. Here’s a poem we believe captures this essence of this hang.

Faces by Kahlil Gibran

“I have seen a face with a thousand countenances, and a face that was but a single countenance as if held in a mould.
 
I have seen a face whose sheen I could look through to the ugliness beneath, and a face whose sheen I had to lift to see how beautiful it was.
 
I have seen an old face much lined with nothing, and a smooth face in which all things were graven.
 
I know faces, because I look through the fabric my own eye weaves, and behold the reality beneath.”

Figurative Art Show

Figurative art, following in the footsteps of the Masters, carries on the legacy of centuries-old traditions while embracing contemporary perspectives. Inspired by the works of iconic artists from Edward Hopper, through Vermeer to Jacques Louis David, our contemporary figurative artists infuse their creations with a blend of technical mastery and personal expression. They explore the human form as a vessel for emotions, narratives, and cultural commentary. With nuanced use of colour and innovative compositions, artists in our latest exhibition breathe new life into age-old themes. Our artists are challenging viewers to reconsider notions of beauty, identity and the human experience. In doing so, they honour the rich heritage of figurative art while pushing its boundaries into uncharted territories.
