Caernarfon Art Festival – introducing the first visual art festival to be staged in the main square in Caernarfon. Running from Friday 21-23rd June 2024. Established in partnership with Wales Arts Review and operated by Life: Full Colour Art Fusion CIC. In fact, we’ve established an independent community interest company to run the festival and all profits will be reinvested for future festivals.
Our objective is to be the first international festival celebrating the visual arts in Wales, centred in Caernarfon. Significantly, our aim is to recognise the contribution that Wales and the Welsh diaspora has made to the visual arts scene. It will encourage appreciation of and participation in visual art. Emulating other established cultural festivals like Hay Literary Festival, it brings together the best of Welsh artists with international national partners from the US, Australia, Japan and across Europe. Above all, it will foster a range of fringe activities around the town including an official bookstore, art pop-ups and workshops.
This is a unique opportunity to create a Welsh initiative run by art professionals and educators in North Wales. Head of Foundation Arts, Coleg Menai says: “Opportunities like this are invaluable for young artists and have a significant part to play in setting them up as new young professionals. It will build long-term partnerships that support young people to develop careers in the arts.”
Furthermore, local independent business owners agree: “There are a huge number of creatives based in the town itself right now – graphic designers, brand designers, set designers, film production, artists, jewellers and more. Together they make an incredible foundation for an arts festival. Altogether, this helps Caernarfon’s independent shops, restaurants and small businesses flourish.”
